There is nothing more satisfying than growing and preparing your own food. I am a recent transplant to Austin, Texas from Oregon. I can garden year round here; of course, this also means I am pulling weeds every day. Other than a brief affair with Roundup to kill my St Augustine grass lawn, I use only organic methods and enjoy the challenge of outsmarting garden pests. Occasionally I lose these battles, but I don't mind sharing a good meal.
Happy 4th of July!
ReplyDeleteYour fern looks as though it knew it needed to make a good performance for the holiday. Hope you had a great 4th!
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine, who grew up in this area, said when she was little, her mom had this in front of the house, HUGE plants, and they would squeeze the almost open blooms to hear them pop, like a fire cracker. This are not hardy in my part of Texas, but I do love seeing them...and yes...popping them.
